Although Iceland is currently open to travel to most of the UK, Europe and North America, it is impossible to predict how the situation might change with new variants like Omicron. Does Travel Insurance Cover Covid?
Most new insurance policies should cover you for covid related illness or isolation, but if you have an existing travel insurance policy make sure this has been updated. Even when taking out new insurance policies make sure you check what you are covered for thoroughly. Some policies might not allow you to cancel if you can still travel to your destination, despite a rise in covid cases.
Who Can Visit Iceland - What Countries Are Restricted?
After November 27th 2021, new travel restrictions apply to people travelling from high-risk areas including South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe. You can read more on these restrictions here.
Otherwise, if you have proof of full vaccination there are currently no travel restrictions for entering Iceland. If you do not have proof of vaccination then you can still travel to the country but you will have to undergo testing and quarantine on arrival to the country. If you are travelling from outside of the UK, USA and Canada then you might require a visa. Some countries need a visa in order to travel to Iceland and you can find a full list here.
